Progress on the Headquarters Facility continues as we transition from spring into summer. In March, the last of the steel beams was set in the building’s structural frame. This occasion was marked with a “Topping Out” ceremony attended by District employees, commissioners, and employees of Lydig Construction, the General Contractor on the Project. Keeping with a tradition in building construction projects, the beam was signed by the attendees before it was lifted into place. During the coming months, the foundation and slab will be poured for the new vehicle maintenance building (to be located behind the Headquarters Facility), exterior finishes and steel framing inside of the Headquarters Building will be completed, and the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems will be “roughed in”. The timeline for the project points to completion somewhere towards the end of the year. After the new building is occupied, the current Administration Building will be demolished to make room for the parking lot.
