CONSTRUCTION UPDATES

Water Main Constr Oct21

October 14, 2021

ATTN: Property Owner's in Des Moines, WA, 98198

Subject: 2021 WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS - S 272ND ST-8TH AVE S AND VICINITY

The Lakehaven Water and Sewer District Board of Directors and the City of Des Moines approved for HCON, Inc. to perform water main and service connection replacements and roadway improvements in your neighborhood. Please see the vicinity map on the next page. The contractor (HCON, Inc.) is preparing to begin construction on October 11, 2021. Construction will continue through the winter with expected completion in April 2022. KPG Engineering will be providing the construction management assistance to the City and the District for the project. The project includes a full overlay of the roads in the neighborhood once utility construction is complete.

Project Description: Removing and disposing approximately 3,020 linear feet of 4-inch and 6-inch diameter water main, decommissioning of approximately 190 linear feet of 6-inch diameter water main, installing approximately 3,200 linear feet of 8-inch diameter and ninety (90) linear feet of 4-inch diameter ductile iron pipe water main, installing and removing temporary water mains and service connections, removing and installing four (4) hydrant assemblies, and removing and installing 56 water service connections. Working Hours: HCON’s working hours will be 8:00 am to 5:00 pm but some days they may need to start at 7:00 am or finish at the latest by 7:00 pm depending on how the work is progressing. HCON will not work on November 25-26 (Thanksgiving) or from December 24 to January 3, 2021.

Traffic Control: Temporary traffic control will be provided to facilitate access through the construction zone. Expect minor delays as one lane closures are expected at times as flaggers direct traffic in and around the construction zone. Access to driveways, garbage service and mail/package delivery will be maintained throughout construction.

Water Service Interruptions: The project will require installation of temporary water services. Residents will be notified by Lakehaven with a door hanger at least 48 hours in advance for service disruptions including the duration of the disruption. Disruptions to water service are required when connecting to temporary services, to the existing water system and for water service replacements. Sanitary sewer service will not be disrupted during construction. After the new water main is connected, you may need to flush out entrapped air by turning on faucets in your home.

We apologize in advance for the noise and inconvenience this work may cause and thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to complete the project. We look forward to a successful project updating your water mains and roads.

If you have any specific questions or needs, we encourage you to contact us, either by phone or via e-mail.
