WATER MAIN FLUSHING UPDATES

Lakehaven Water and Sewer District may be flushing water mains in your area.  This is done as part of a scheduled preventative maintenance program to help maintain good water quality and to identify valves and fire hydrants that may need repair in your neighborhood.  Signs will be placed on street corners prior to and during our water main flushing activity in the neighborhoods where our flushing crews will be working.   Flushing hours are typically 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

As Lakehaven Water and Sewer District flushes water mains in your area, you may experience a temporary reduction in water pressure but you will not have your water service shut off during the main flushing process.  You may also see some harmless discolored water and/or mineral sediment when using cold water both during and after the flushing exercise.  These conditions are temporary and normal during flushing activities and should clear up quickly.  When our flushing crew is in your neighborhood, we recommend you refrain from washing laundry or using hot water.  If you should experience any cloudiness or sediment in your water we recommend you flush the pipes of your home or business by opening an outside hose bib to irrigate lawn or shrubs until the water clears (usually only a few minutes) or flush your service pipes from other interior “cold” water taps.

We regret any inconvenience the flushing might cause you. If you have any questions or if you experience any persistent water quality problems as a result of this maintenance program, please do not hesitate to call Dawn Zern, Program Analyst or Tim Osborne, Water Quality Engineer at the contact information on this page.
