Construction Updates

2023 WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS – SW 308th St – FROM 6th PL SW to 1st Avenue S

This is a notification about the construction of 2023 Water Main Improvement project along SW 308th Street from 6th Place SW to 1 Street Avenue S. The District is replacing the existing six inch asbestos-cement water main with 8 inch and 12 in ductile iron water to improve system reliability and capacity as part of our on-going capital improvement program.

The Lakehaven Water and Sewer District Board of Commissioners have awarded the construction contract to HCON, Inc. to replace water main and service connections along SW 308th Street  from 6th Place SW to 1 Street Avenue S.  HCON, Inc. has started the construction on March 27, 2023 with the expected completion of the project by June 20, 2023 in order for City of Federal Way to work on their street overlay project. The District has coordinated the water main work with the City of Federal Way to minimize cost and inconvenience to residents/customers/public. KPG-Psomas will be providing the construction administration and management for the project.

Traffic Control: Temporary traffic control will be provided to facilitate access through the construction zone. Expect minor delays as one lane closures are expected at times as flaggers direct traffic in and around the construction zone. Access to driveways, garbage service and mail/package delivery will be maintained throughout construction. No Vehicle Lane Closures will be allowed on SW 308th and cross streets between 6th PL SW and 1 St Avenue S for 45 minutes starting 15 minutes before official Lake Grove Elementary School start and release times.

Water Service Interruptions: The new water main will be installed, disinfected and pressure/purity tested and then water service will be transferred over in three stages.  The project requires temporary water service for some residences. Residents will be notified by a door hanger at least 48 hours in advance for all service disruptions including the duration of the disruption.

Disruptions to water service are required when connecting to temporary services, to the existing water system and water service connections replacement. After the new water main is connected, you may need to flush out some air by turning on the cold water in several faucets in your home.

We apologize in advance for the noise and inconvenience this work may cause and thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to complete the project. We look forward to a successful project updating your water mains.
