Subject: 2022 WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS – SW 310TH ST & 7TH AVE SW AND VICINITY

The Lakehaven Water and Sewer District Board of Directors and the City of Federal Way approved for HCON, Inc. to perform water main and service connection replacements and roadway improvements in your neighborhood. HCON, Inc is preparing to begin construction on the project within the next few weeks. Construction will continue through the next two months with expected completion to be this May. KPG will be providing the construction management for the project.

Project Description: removing and disposing of asbestos-cement, PVC, and ductile iron/cast iron pipe water mains; installing six-inch (6") and eight-inch (8") diameter ductile iron pipe water main; removing valves and installing gate valves; removing and replacing service lines; removing and replacing hydrants; permitting; construction survey and staking; material testing; project temporary traffic control; temporary water service and construction sequencing; temporary water pollution and erosion prevention; utility potholing; removing and replacing road pavement; restoring the site, and other related work.

Working Hours: HCON’s working hours will be 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, and no work is permitted to happen over the weekends.

Traffic Control: Temporary traffic control will be provided to facilitate access through the construction zone. Expect minor delays as one lane closures are expected at times as flaggers direct traffic in and around the construction zone. Access to driveways, garbage service and mail/package delivery will be maintained throughout construction.

Water Service Interruptions: The new water main will be installed, disinfected and pressure/purity tested and then water service will be transferred over in five stages. The project requires temporary water service. Residents will be notified by a door hanger at least 48 hours in advance for all service disruptions including the duration of the disruption.

Disruptions to water service are required when connecting to temporary services, to the existing water system and water service connections replacement. Sanitary sewer service will not be disrupted during construction. After the new water main is connected, you may need to flush out some air by turning on the cold water in several faucets in your home.

We apologize in advance for the noise and inconvenience this work may cause and thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to complete the project. We look forward to a successful project updating your water mains and roads.
