Gibson Appointed to Replace Jovanovich
on Lakehaven Board

The Lakehaven Utility District’s Board of Commissioners appointed Charles Gibson to fill the seat vacated by Tom Jovanovich. Jovanovich, a Lakehaven Commissioner since 1998, resigned in August to relocate to the Seattle area. The appointment of Gibson at the September 14th Board meeting will return the Board to its full membership of five.

Gibson was included in the group of eight original applicants for the position vacated by former Lakehaven Commissioner Dick Mayer last spring. Three finalists, including Gibson, Ron Nowicki and Mary Jo Adams, a water/wastewater instructor at Green River Community College, were interviewed for the vacant Board position in June.  Nowicki was selected by the Board and sworn in at the first meeting in July to fill the vacant position.

In light of the proximity in time to the candidate solicitation in the spring and the qualifications of the remaining applicants, the Board determined to make the selection of a replacement for Jovanovich from the remaining two candidates from the June interviews.  Bev Tweddle, Board President, notes “When we conducted the interviews last June, it was clear that each of the candidates we met with possessed excellent qualifications for appointment to the Board. Charles has an educational and professional background that will add greatly to the Board.  I know he looks forward to serving on the Board and we are extremely pleased that he was interested in the vacant position.  Don Miller, a Lakehaven Commissioner since 1984, echoes Tweddle’s comments.   “I think the addition of Mr. Gibson will further enhance the balance of experience on our Board”.

Gibson, a retired Biologist for the Weyerhaeuser Company, brings a background of experience in the fields of wastewater and aquatic system management.  Adds Gibson “I am very honored to have been selected by the Board and look forward to serving the Lakehaven Utility District customers.”
